LADY OR LADIES: Slang for queen.
LAY DOWN: To reveal one's hand in a showdown.
LAY DOWN YOUR HAND: To fold.
LEG UP: A position where, having won the previous pot, you may have to kill the following pot if the current pot is won.
LIMIT: Either describes the dollar amount of the allowed bets such as $1/$2 or it describes a game with a fixed betting structure.
LIMIT POKER: A structured poker style that uses fixed limits on betting and raising per round. Limit poker games require specificbet amounts, as opposed to no-limit games in which you can bet the farm if so desired.
LIMPING IN: Calling the big blind rather than raising.
LIST: The ordered roster of players waiting for a game.
LIVE BLIND: A blind bet that allows a player to raise if no-one else has raised.
LIVE CARD: A card that has not been seen.
LIVE GAME: A game with lots of betting action. A 'loose' game.
LIVE HAND: A hand that has not been folded or mucked, or a hand with many outs remaining.
LOCK: A hand that is guaranteed to win at least part of the pot.
LOCK-UP: A chip marker that holds a seat for a player.
LOWBALL: A draw game where the lowest hand wins.
LOWCARD: The lowest face-up card in seven-card stud which is required to bet.
LOWEST CARD: The card that has the lowest value. Aces are high. If two players have the same lowest card, the value is determined by suit. Suits are arranged in alphabetical order from lowest to highest value - Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades.
