True Poker Review

Click here for $75 Sign-Up Bonus, 30% Match

True Poker tries harder than any other internet poker room to provide online players a "true-to-life" poker-playing experience, with their state-of-the-art, 3-D, 1st person software. What TruePoker games lack in speed and variety, they more than make up for in audio-visual authenticity - that is, if audio-visual authenticity is what you're looking for.

Expert hosts David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth have developed intricate collusion-detection programs that automatically flag suspicious behavior. Though TruePoker Online has been around since May of 2001, they still can't get their traffic above 500 most times. This is a good site for newbies to learn how to play poker online and/or off. Certain benefits of the nifty software, however, make True Poker less than ideal for solid, experienced players.

And the bonuses and promotions aren't as exciting as other sites'. TruePoker is worth checking out at least once simply for the innovative interface.

Software & Graphics
Their software is the one key area where True Poker excels
State of the art, 3-D, "true-to-life", 1st person view of table
Equipped with voice audio, and animation
File size is huge (smallest is 10 mb)
Slow interface, slow action
Not great for anyone who doesn't have cable/DSL/satellite connection to the internet
Tells are easier to spot (both an advantage and a disadvantage depending on who & when)
Floating chat text
Bubble hint feature
Ability to check opponent's chip count at any time by moving mouse over their chips
Must click on your cards to view them, but other players can see you do this, making it a tell

Heavier on scheduled tournaments
